This presentation will feature some of the most extraordinary private gardens in the world, and two talks by authors who have had the privilege of writing about them. Linda Jane Holden will talk about Mrs Rachel ‘Bunny’ Lambert Mellon, the subject of her biography The Gardens of Bunny Mellon. Linda will show photographs of some of the gardens Mrs Mellon designed or worked on, including the White House Rose Garden, the Kennedys’ private gardens, Hubert de Givenchy’s Paris garden, the Potager du Roi at Versailles and her own garden at Oak Spring in Virginia. Janelle McCulloch will speak about the Normandy garden of Christian Dior, the Provence garden of Hermes’ creative director Nicole de Vésian, the Oxfordshire garden of David Hicks, the Hamptons garden of Estée Lauder, and several more from her book Gardens of Style: Private Hideaways of the Design World. Books will be for sale, with a book signing after the talks.
